It's cabin crew hiring season soon! Are you well prepared? One of the most important part of being a cabin crew is your grooming. And to have the best grooming on the day of your interview, you should have immaculate make-up. Flight attendant recruitment events last all day. You have to wake up early, get in the venue early, stay for the next steps, and hopefully receive good news!
To make a good impression, you have to make sure that your make up is not only on point but also waterproof, budge-proof, and oil proof. I struggled at first how to find the proper make-up that would suit me. What more with the right products. So after a few tries of applying and researching, I was able to have my holy grail of make-up products.
Here are some make-up products I recommend that you should have in your kit!
1. No-Budge Lipstick
Your lip color is important as you need to match the proper grooming standard of your airline. Usually, red lip is the color that airlines follow like in Philippine Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways. Some airlines like Cebu Pacific or Korea Air prefer nude or natural lip shades. Some prefer magenta, violet or pink like in Etihad, Flyadeal, or Oman Air. Picking the right shade is as important as picking your attire - something that suits you. The secret here is to choose the best one for your skin tone. Something that compliments your smile and your skin color. If you have tan skin, you should try warm toned shades. For lighter skin tones, cool-toned shades are better. To make it perfect, make sure to pick matte lipstick such as the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks as it stays all day. It takes some time to used to because of the dry and matte feeling, but it proved to be such a good lipstick when my lips were the same when I applied it in the morning.
My recommended shades:
- Ambitious (Warm-toned Red)
- Pioneer (Cool-toned Red)
- Dancer (Neutral Red)
- Lover (Dusty Rose shade)
- Artist (Warm Berry shade)
- Seductress (Nude Pink/MLBB shade)
2. Oil-Proof Eye Primer
Using eyeshadow is not enough. The weather, humidity, and waiting game affects your eye make-up, therefore smudging and creasing unfortunately happens. And it gets worse when you have oily lids like me. The key to making it stay all day is to use eye primer or eyeshadow base. It enhances your eyeshadow color and it acts as adhesion so that your eyeshadow lasts longer like the essence I Love Stage eyeshadow base. You might think that face concealers are enough to use for your eyes. However, concealers actually contain oils which might budge your eye make-up than it should enhance.

3. Glowy Highlight Palette
First impression lasts in your interview! To make sure that you look your best, your skin need to look its best as well. It should be glowy, clear, and healthy - not dry and tired. But of course, not everyone has perfect skin. Even I struggle with maintaining the perfect skin not just in an interview but everyday! A simple hack for that is to use highlight or lighting powders on your face's highest points. I recommend using not too bright highlighters since most make-up standards require natural or professional looking face. Just use enough to make your skin glowing and looking healthy from within. I highly suggest this product from Vice Cosmetics. I used it in my last interview and it really gave that natural glow.
My recommended Highlight Palette:
4. All Day Setting Spray
Last but not the least, the make-up product that seals the deal. You might think that your primer and setting powder is enough to lock everything, but setting spray is super important to not only seal everything, but also to make the colors long lasting. I had a hard time finding the best setting spray and even harder time trying to keep my make-up in place while waiting for my turn. But after a few tries and research, wet n wild matte finish won me over. It made my make-up matte, it fixed some budges, and my eyebrow which is usually my problem stayed budge-proof. It's also cheap and lasts a long time!
